Graduate Assistant Jorge Alvarez

Jorge Alvarez is entering his first season as the graduate assistant coach for the Mississippi College women's soccer team, where he will be working with the goalkeepers.

Born in Gijon, Spain, Alvarez comes to MC from Tusculum University in Greenville, Tenn., where he played for three seasons and earned degrees in International Business and Sport’s Management. A three-time All-SAC Conference, All-Region and Academic All-American selection, Alvarez helped the pioneers to two SAC Conference Tournament Championships. Alvarez helped lead the Pioneers to a 16-4 record in 2016, qualifying them for a spot in the NCAA II National Tournament.  Alvarez was additionally named to the SAC Commissioner's Honor Roll and Athletic Director's Honor Roll during his time at Tusculum.

Alvarez finished as the Tusculum career leader in goals against average and second in career shutouts. Prior to his time in America, Alvarez played for La Liga team academies Real Sporting de Gijon and Atletico Madrid.

Alvarez began his coaching career as Goalkeeper’s coach with the TSK Roces youth club before he moved to the U.S. He has since been a club coach for Greeneville Galaxy, and Erie Admirals youth teams and an Assistant Coach at TSSAA champions Greeneville High School in 2017.

Alvarez holds a Spanish FA Level 1 Coaching License, and NSCAA Goalkeeper’s Levels 1-2 Coaching License.
